Hello all!

If you live in Colorado and identify as any part of the LGBTQIAA community, One Colorado is doing a quick 10 minute survey to find out which issues are the most important to Coloradans right now regarding health care, as well as to create a list of LGBTQ friendly medical professionals. if you don’t mind taking a few minutes out of your day, it would be greatly appreciated.  More info is below.

Is your doctor LGBT-friendly? Do you feel confident that you will be allowed to make medical decisions for your partner or your children? Are you treated with respect in healthcare settings? Do you have access to the care you need as an LGBT person?

Tell us everything that you are comfortable sharing—we need to hear about your experiences with doctors, with health insurance companies, with medical facilies. We want to know about the healthcare services you use and the ones you don’t have access to. We need you to share your worries, fears, and concerns. Complete our LGBT Health Survey and help us understand the obstacles and challenges that LGBT Coloradans face when trying to access healthcare so that we can work together to address them.

Do you like pancakes? Do you like building and supporting local community? Do you like working together to work against violence, particularly within and against the LGBTQ community?

July 9th, from 9:30-11:30 am, at East High School in Denver, is the 4th Annual Pancake Breakfast, put on by the Colorado Anti-Violence Program. CAVP is the ONLY organization in Colorado dedicated solely to work on stopping violence inside and against the LGBTQ community. How awesome is that cause?

You get ALL YOU CAN EAT vegan pancakes (which, even if you’re not vegan, and freaking delicious!), plus the opportunity to hang out with local celebrity servers (like my sweet self), meet new like-minded folks, reach out and be a part of the activist community and much much more! Tickets are on a sliding scale of $5-$25 (pay what you can afford), and kids under 8 are free! I really hope to see you there, supporting such a fabulous organization and important cause.

Dec 302010

Date: January 28th 7pm-ish to January 29th 10am-ish

Location: The RACK Room in Denver

First and foremost: This is a “girls”-only event, and since the ladies of the RACK room believe strongly in gender inclusion, “girls-only” is not limited to girls born with a vagina. Transfolk, gender queer people, and anyone else who identifies in the realm of girl or grrl or woman or womin or womyn will be welcome. All orientations welcome!

Cost: $10 (to cover space rental)

This is going to be a super fun, inclusive night of both kinky and vanilla fun, from games to play time, gift exchanges to lots of munchies. 18+ ONLY, as both kinky and sexual play will be allowed. That being said, lets have a great night of kinky, naughty fun girls!

Everyone that is coming should bring:
A DISH: This is a potluck! bring deserts, a drink, anything sleepover-y! Liquor will be allowed, but if you are going to drink, please do not play, or wait until after you play to drink. This event is open to those under 21, but they are NOT allowed to drink. Sorry gals, that’s the way it has to be!

A sleeping bag or blankets

We will be playing fairy godmother! Bring a small gift (or gift bag) of LESS than $20. Please do not have any particular person in mind as we will probably be white-elephanting gifts!

A movie or music if you are so inclined. This does NOT mean Sex and the City

Your imagination!
We will be playing a plethora of games both kinky and vanilla. If you have ideas for games, bring those!

Your toy bag.
If you would like to play, then bring toys to do so!

A stuffed animal and some rope (if you have it). There will be a competition during the night (for bear bondage/stuffy shibari)!

A change of clothes — this party ends at 10am Saturday morning! Make sure to bring something to change into, a maybe a towel or two for those of us that enjoy communal showers with the kinky girls in our lives ;)

If interested and needing directions to the RACK room, please contact Shanna or Mistress Saskia via FB or shannakatz @ gmail dot com or DaSozz at aol dot com.

I love Colorado. Despite getting sick, I had a wonderful trip full of crisp air, leaves changing colors, vegan seitan wings, pumpkin ripple fudge ice cream, delicious veg-friendly Mexican food and more, as well as some great talks with people in the kink, queer and sex positive communities. I always feel so much at home in Denver, and can’t wait to be returning there next Spring with my partner.

And now, it’s back to the grind. Catching up on work for Fascinations, facilitating my American Medical Association’s Sexual Health Scholars group with Justine Shuey, teaching at Arizona State University, and Paradise Valley Community College, and getting my radio show (on 1100 KNFX, Thursdays at 4pm) off the ground. And that’s all just this week!

I’m booking now for Spring 2011, and still taking new clients for my sex and relationship coaching. Hope to hear from you!

In the meantime, I’m enjoying being back with my partner and our kitties, other pumpkin tastiness, and trying to get well again.

This week brings me back to my homeland; Colorado!

The title is a bit deciving — while I will be spending a good deal of my time in Denver, I’ll also be heading down to Colorado Springs tonight to do a Sex Toy 101 event at Colorado College, and check out our new Fascinations store that just opened in Colorado Springs.

Thursday the 14th is a busy day, starting with a 7am interview/talk show with Lewis and Floorwax on the Fox. Please tune in! Then, Thursday night at 7pm is a 100% FREE sex ed workshop at the Aurora Fascinations. It’s call What’s Up with the Butt? Anal 101 and is great for everyone who is interested in anal sex, whether they’ve tried it or not, regardless of gender, orientation, etc. It’s going to be super fun! Plus, the first 20 people to show up get $10 gift cards for Fascinations, and everyone gets refreshments and the chance to enter a raffle for toys, gift cards and more! It’ll be at 2680 S. Havana Ave in Aurora, 7pm.

Friday, I’m doing a private all staff training for the Colorado Fascinations employees, checking out a venue for my wedding next fall, attending a friend’s wedding, and then rocking out at the Skull FUK (Fetish und Kink) party at the RACK Room.

Saturday, I’m planning to hang out with my best friend, and hopefully do a shoot for GoodDykePorn.

If you’re in Colorado, I’d love to see you while I’m out there. And if you’re interested in having me come speak at a campus/store/center/dungeon near you, please contact me!

Plus! Check out this discount for everyone:

Shanna Katz Full Spectrum Sexuality

July 15th Workshop

To all of you who are in the Denver Metro area; I invite you to my FREE workshop this Thursday at the  Fascinations in Arvada, CO, at 7pm. Again, it’s free to all who come, and every one who attends this workshop will get a $10 gift card (good in any of the stores, or online at , as well as food and drink, and an entry in a raffle to win gift cards and more.

We often talk about sex acts, but it’s rare that we sit down and talk about sexuality as a whole. Is it ok to masturbate in a relationship? Why exactly do we talk about “lube is love?” How do I introduce sex toys into my relationship? What if I’m not horny. All these are topics for discussion, as well as sex toy 101, info about materials, lubes and more.

Hope to see you there!
