For those of you who didn’t read through this month’s Katz Meow (my monthly sex education newsletter), I have an announcement to make…

In the beginning of March, my partner and I, as well as our three kitties, will be making the trek back to Denver, Colorado, this time for good. I will continue to work for Fascinations as their resident sexuality educator and online media specialist, returning to Arizona on a monthly basis to host free sex education workshops for the community as I do now. I’ll also be hosting at least one free sex ed class in the Denver area each month, as well as continuing on with my other duties, and my partner will be starting a wonderful job with a fabulous non-profit organization in the Denver area.

What does this mean for you? If you’re just an avid reader of the blog, or like checking out my videos, pretty much nothing will change. If you’re in Arizona, you can still see me once a month at my classes, as well as plan sex coaching/relationship counseling appointments during my visits, or via the phone or Skype. If you’re in Colorado, that means lots more awesome, accessible sex education coming to you, as well as having a Denver area sex coach and relationship counselor, and the opportunity to book private parties (think sex toy parties, bachelorette parties, stag nights, girls nights, guys nights, you name it!). If you’re looking to book me for travel, I’ll now be flying in and out of the Denver airport, which often has cheaper fares and a wider flight selection, making it even more affordable to bring me to your store/campus/conference/dungeon/home/etc.

I’ll still be in Providence March 9th-15th, and Portland March 18th-21st, other wise I’m not booking any additional March travel in order to be able to unpack, etc. However, April and beyond are open for bookings still, so feel free to contact me to set something up for your organization.

And the best part of it all, aside from being near friends, family and the Rocky Mountains? Why, the vegan buffalo seitan wings at Watercourse Foods and City o City!

Colorado, here I come,

This afternoon, I’m super excited to have one of my favorite dommes in the entire world on my Let’s Talk Sex Radio show at 4pm MST. Who could it possibly be?

Why, it’s Mistress Saskia, the headmistress of Pavlovia Denver, owner of the RACK Room, and all around awesome-sauce person!

We’re going to talk kink, BDSM, ropes, role play and oh so much more, for the most novice bondage beginner to those who have lived in the lifestyle. Plus, as always, toy reviews, lots of giveaways, the Position of the Day game, and lots more fun.

Just listen to 1100AM KFNX in the Phoenix area, or head over to the Let’s Talk Sex Radio Show webpage to stream it live on your computer. Tune in, turn on, and have fun!

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to get to participate Ignite Phoenix After Hours. Basically, if chosen to present, you have five minutes and 20 power point slides to present on a topic that you are passionate about. I, being passionate about it, chose vaginal fisting…which should NOT be done in 5 minutes, but you can definitely talk about it in five minutes. I had fun, although I usually don’t use computers or power points when I do workshops, so it was definitely a different experience.

I’m sorry you can’t see the power point so well, but at least the volume is pretty good. Thanks to my wonderful partner for taping it for me! Enjoy, and remember fisting is fun!

Enjoy!

Hey Arizonians –

Community auditions for Phoenix’s The Vagina Monologues (women identified people only) and A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer (all genders welcome) are from 3-8 TOMORROW, Friday the 5th (stop by any time BETWEEN 3 and 8 — it’s not the whole time) at the ASU memorial union in room 220 Copper. NO ACTING EXPERIENCE NEEDED. NONE.

I’m directing MMRP, and would love to see a HUGE variety of people show up.

Would love to get lots of people of all ages, races, genders, orientations, professions, ability levels, religions, political views, etc involved.

There aren’t very many rehearsals, so the time committment isn’t like a traditional play, and you also get to do great social activist work by promoting the show, finding sponsors, etc. It’s an amazing experience — this is my 6th year being involved in V-day.

Hoping to have you at auditions! Pass this along to friends please! Let me know if you need more info/specifics.

Here is a video of one of my classes at Fascinations back in the beginning of August in Scottsdale, AZ, talking about G-spot play, female ejaculation, vulvar anatomy, and much more. From my vulva puppet Vivianne, to fabulous sex toys, to lots of laughing (both me and the students), this is a fun and educational video about the G-spot and all that it entails. Even if you know lots about g-spot play, female ejacuation and the anatomy of a vulva, I think that everyone can always learn SOMETHING from every workshop.

I hope you enjoy it!

The other night, I was at my partner’s softball game. I go every week. Do I particularly like softball? No. Do I particularly like my partner? Yes. Ergo, I go, and I cheer for the team, and I support her as much as I can. I am the only partner of someone on the team who comes regularly; in fact, I’m often the only one sitting in the bleachers, for either side.

While there, my partner and I interact like people in a relationship do. Sometimes we kiss and hug a lot, sometimes we don’t. I cheer for her, and make salacious suggestions about what I’d like to do to her wiggling butt when she’s batting. We’re not super into public displays of affection, but we certainly are not one hundred percent chaste in public either. We always refer to each other as partner, we come and go together, we hold hands, and we’ve even mentioned our upcoming wedding in front of the team.

The other day, while at a game, a fellow player needed a pen, and the coach turned to him and said “LP’s roommate has a pen you can use.”

He called me her roommate. He called me the roommate of the person who is not only the person I live with, but the person I love, the person I have sex with, the person who is the reason I moved to Arizona, the person who waited in the lobby throughout my surgery to visit me when I woke up after the anethesia, the person who has driven me to the ER, the person who is the CO-parent of our cats, and so much more.

We don’t often realize how much language, even if not used maliciously, can hurt. By him refusing to validate our relationship, and referencing us as roommate, he told us we weren’t as good as straight people, that our relationship wasn’t enough, that it didn’t count.

People ask me often why pronouns matter, why it’s important to ask people how they identify, if it really is that big of a deal.

It is, because when someone says something that completey invalidates your identity, it just really hurts to the core. Yes, it does matter whether they prefer he, she, zie or something else. Yes, it is important to ask someone if they identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, questioning, heteroflexible or something else. Yes, it is really that big of a deal.

Language has power.

Dear Mayor,

I am fairly new to Arizona, having moved here this past fall with my partner from Colorado.

The day SB1070 passed and was signed was the day we thought we’d made a mistake about moving here. It is shameful to us to be living in a state that so blatantly perpetuates racism and racial profiling. Immigration may in fact be an issue here, but as I’m sure you know, this bill does nothing but legalize hatred, and give cart blanche to individual officers to discriminate as they will. I’m afraid that it will spread not only racism, but also include homophobia and transphobia, as those following this law make those who do not fit into society’s gender standards show their documentation, and begin to pull over cars with HRC stickers and rainbows. I am not prepared to carry around my birth certificate and/or passport with me at all times; no one should have to do this.

I have hope in you, sir, that you will do the right thing and begin the steps to create a discrimination and inequality suit that will get this law declared unconstitutional. I have hope that you will make us change our mind about this state, show us that there are people will to stand up for right, for equality, for human rights.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me about this issue, and I look forward to seeing you stand up for justice for all,

Shanna

Last week, I put on a class at Fascinations entitled What’s in Your Toybox – helping learn about toys, how to use them, multiple uses, care, cleaning, etc.  Here are some of the pictures!
