Trainings and Lectures

The trainings and lectures are geared towards educational and corporate settings.  You can also, of course, present any of Shanna’s sexuality workshops in these environments – however, these particular subjects tend to be the most often requested from Shanna in these fields.

Ally Education Program

Program geared toward students on college campuses on how to be allies and create safe spaces for their queer peers. Can be done to include staff and faculty as well. Great for freshman orientations and RA trainings, but good for any time throughout the school year. NOTE: This program can also be adapted for a work place setting or high school.

Beyond Vanilla

Often times, college level classes may mention “alternative sexualities,” but then neglect to define them, or discuss them, often due to confusion and lack of information. This lecture covers a variety of sexualities and sex acts in a non-judgmental, completely informative way.  It can be geared towards any classroom setting, and can include discussion on orientations (gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, asexual, pansexual, etc), gender identities, BDSM, role playing, polyamory/non-monogamy and more.

LGBT Optimize Your Office

This  was originally designed for medical settings, instructing doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals on ways to make their offices more inclusive for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender patients.  However, it has been adapted for use in any office setting. Shanna will take a look at various office practices, paperwork and more, and will work with human resources and/or office employees to make it a more inclusive place for both LGBT patients/customers, and office employees. Time needed varies on individual need of office/compan

Gender 101

Shanna’s Gender 101 training is a great first look into the nuances of gender.  Great for offices, physicians, and other professional settings (as well as can be adapted for schools), this workshop is an intro into the concept of gender, what it is, how and why people identify the way they do, and more.  Excellent for settings that may have someone who is transitioning, or schools that want to support students are all gender identities and presentations.

Safer Sex Workshop

Ideal for high school or college aged students who would like to get a good idea of how to practice safer sexual activities. Includes contraception, birth control, abstinence, where to obtain these methods, who can/should use which, how to talk to your partner(s) and your doctor, and more. Unlike many safer sex talks, this includes conversation on how to use safer sex in LGBTQ relationships, BDSM relationships, and extensive discussion on risk-awareness as it relates to actually using safer sex practices.

Sexual Assault Prevention and Consent Class

Sexual assault is a huge issue, particularly on college campuses. People don’t know the definition of sexual assault, and moreover, people don’t know the definition of consent. Let’s talk terms, and let’s talk consent. It’s not a women’s problem; it’s a people’s problem. Why don’t we keep our college students safe while not telling them to stop having fun and that it’s not ok to have sex. Sex positive message about keeping themselves and their friends safe.

Taking Sex Out of the Dark Session

This program is especially popular with high school and college students who see Shanna as a “sexpert,” but still a younger person that can reach them at their level. Developed out of the well known sex in the dark idea, Shanna takes sex out of the dark, and answers questions that most students are worried about asking. This program is great for smaller groups of students, especially those interested in sexuality.

Trainings and workshops can be created on a variety of other issues. Please contact Shanna at ShannaKatz@gmail.com to discuss this further.
