For those who don’t follow me on Facebook or Twitter, I recently had some of my sex tips published, along side sex educators Megan Andelloux and Sadie Allison, in the November issue of Cosmo.

Unfortunately, that issue is already off shelves. Luckily, a friend scanned her copy for me, so if you’d like to check out some of our ideas on how to please your partner (let’s be real – this is Cosmo…so how to please a man) with your mouth, outside of “give him a blow job,” you can click on the pictures below. If you want to check out other Cosmo tips, check out their sex advice section. You can also read my sexuality advice column over at Out Front Colorado.

love honey sqweel sex toy

Back in the day, I did a review of the original Sqweel from Lovehoney, and you can read that review here. I was a huge fan, and recommend it to folks that liked oral sex a lot, and we not getting it in the amounts that they desired, because it’s a close as you’re going to get to oral sex without having someone between your legs.

However, they have lately revamped the Sqweel, and come out with the Sqweel 2.0, a sex toy very similar to the first, but with a good handful of differences and updates. The most noticeable one is clearly the casing. I’m not going to lie; I really liked the old casing better. While this material is nicer, and more reminiscent of the LELO style of toys, I personally hate pink, and I also don’t really like being able to see the tongues. I’m guessing this was done so people could check out what is was in store. However, it makes it much less of a stealth toy that it was before, and a lot of the people I present to are interested in getting sex toys that don’t actually look like…well, sex toys.

That being said, I like the buttons a lot better on this, as well as the battery casing. This version is much easier to open to place batteries, and the front buttons make a lot more sense, and if you’re a partner using this on someone, you can actually see what is going on more. Plus, there are a lot more functions of the tongues going this way, and thata way, and back and forth, so you have a lot more options for figuring out what works for you. Additionally, the “lock” function is ideal for those who like to travel with their sex toys. Brilliant!

I still think this is a great toy for people of all genders — you can use the tongues (properly lubricated, of course, to reduce friction) on nipples, penises, scrotums, etc, in addition to the clitoris and labia for which it was pretty much designed. However, if you’re super sensitive, this new model seems to have a bit more power, so it might be a little bit too strong for you. On the other hand, if you like your toys to pack a punch, the Sqweel certainly has quite a bit of oomph to it. Of course, like all items I review, it is 100% body safe and phthalate free. Also, you can switch out the inner pink part of a variety of different types of simulators — there are nubs, bumps and more. It goes so far beyond just tongues on a wheel.

Interested? Want to be a Sqweel owner and join the lick-a-lot alone club? Head on over to Lovehoney and get one of your very own!

With my new book, Oral Sex That’ll Blow Her Mind, now available on Amazon.com (as well as Barnes and Noble, and hopefully your local retailer!), there is starting to be some exciting press for it.

Here’s a piece I gave some tips for on SheKnows.com: Four Tips for Enjoying Oral Sex

And my favorite Westword writer Jenn Wohletz did a fabulous piece on me, my thoughts, and of course, the book: Oral Sex Rockstar Shanna Katz

Add to that the previous piece from Out Front Colorado writer Holly Hatch: Local Sex Educator’s New Book Dives Into Women’s Pleasure

…and I’m quite the happy panda!

(note; if you or someone you know is interested in writing about the book, interviewing me, having me on a podcast, etc, please have them Contact Me. I’d be happy to chat you/them up!)

I am so incredibly honored to be part of Go Magazine’s 100 Women We Love collection of 2012.

a) Go Magazine is incredibly amazing, and a great magazine — I highly recommend you check it out.

b) I’m on a list with people like Rachel Maddow, Wanda Sykes, Ellen Degeneres. Say whaaaaat?

c) There are not many sex educators on that list, now or in the past, and I’m really glad they’ve chosen to recognize the importance of accessible, accurate and interesting sex education, especially for the LGBTQ community.

d) There is a huge picture of my and my vulva puppet. Win!

Here is a snippet…

“Professional pervert”—to some it’s an insult; to Shanna Katz, M.Ed, ACS, it’s her job description. The self-described “queer kinky disabled femme,” a board-certified sexologist, teaches about the huge spectrum of sexuality through discussions about relationship communication skills, non-monogamy, oral sex, disability and more. She’s using her Masters of Sexuality Education to provide accessible sex education to people across the country and online. “Sexuality education is a field that needs attention, focus, conversation and open-minded people,” she observes.

Yes, folks, you read the title right! While you may have read erotic pieces I have written for anthologies, you have never read a full book written 100% by me.

Wait no longer! You can order my book Oral Sex That’ll Blow Her Mind: An Illustrated Guide to Giving Her Amazing Orgasms on Amazon RIGHT now for delivery in the next two weeks…AND, by popular request, there is even a KINDLE edition!

You can also contact your locally owned booked store or progressive sex toy store, and ask THEM to carry it, so that you can buy local.

If you ever come to any of my classes, talks, lectures, workshops, events, etc, feel free to bring the book along, and I’ll turn it into a signed copy pronto!

And with that in mind…go forth, and shop! You’ll also be able to purchase it at Barnes and Noble in the very near future, if you’d prefer that route.

*note-while it does use female pronouns for the receiver, this book welcomes trans folks to enjoy it as well. Additionally, the partner is purposely written with no pronouns, so as to be more accessible for everyone!”

This month, my sexuality and relationship advice column made its debut in the wonderful local (to Colorado) LGBTQ paper Out Front Colorado. If you head on over to the digital edition, and click through to page 42 (I know, perfect, right? My advice must be the meaning of life), you can see what I had to say to a person whose girlfriend masturbates A LOT and to someone looking to start exploring his anal pleasure zones in the safest way possible.

Have a question you’d like to me (anonymously) answer? Leave a comment here, message me on Facebook, DM me on Twitter, or email me at ShannaKatz at Gmail dot com. Questions can be about anything sexual, relationship, dating, anatomy, sex toys; you name it!
